WiC64meX, the WiC64-Media-Extension

What?

WiCmeX is the external media extension for the WiC64. It enables a C64 program / game to play hifi audio so far using any device running a webbrowser. As a user, all you need is a WiC64, a device (smartphone, tablet, laptop, desktop) with a modern webbrowser connected to the internet and your C64. Alternatively you can use VICE to emulate a C64 including a WiC64 since VICE version 3.9.

Why?

While most of us love the authentic sound of the C64, sometimes hifi audio is a plus, we can have for example voice lines, real recorded sounds or background music that fits the scene better than chiptune music. This is not a replacement for the SID, this should be combined!

How?

At some time the programm or game you are using should point you to open either https://mex.wic64.net and enter a code, or directly to https://mex.wic64.net/l/XXXX where XXXX is a 4-character code, this might or might not be done with an QR-Code. Once you are there, and pressed the big button, your C64 and browser share a session and the C64 can start controlling the audio playback in your browser.

Demo

There are 2 demos available, both are within the WiC64-Portal:
